Eye cosmetics have been an important part in history for women, and especially for men who have enjoyed looking at them. Women throughout the ages have worn them to accentuate certain features of their eyes. However, more and more women today are experiencing problems related to the use of rimel and eyeliner. These problems can range from minor irritation to serious infections. The most common make-up related injury happens when the cornea is scratched with a mascara applicator. This commonly happens when women try to apply mascara when they are driving and an unexpected bump in the road jars them causing them to scratch their cornea with the bristle applicator. Sometimes this leads to an infection. Rimel applicators are notorious for harboring bacteria introduced from the process of application and reapplication. Our skin and hair follicles, no matter how clean, harbor microorganisms that may cause infection.
How to keep cosmetics from becoming contaminated?
Products are usually pure when purchased. Contamination however can be introduced into them as they are being used. Fungi and bacteria oftentimes grow in cosmetic containers. Keep your jars tightly closed and do not leave them in your car or in the hot sun. Always reinsert your eyelash wand back into the dip tube, and never lay it down on any surface for even an instant. Instead of dipping fingers to retrieve a moisturizing cream, a small clean spatula should always be used especially for eye cosmetics. Even though these formulations contain strong preservatives to retard bacterial growth, studies show that contamination does occur. If infection results, immediate medical attention should be sought or else serious complications may result. Also never share your cosmetic products with anyone else.
This may sound selfish, but actually this is a protection to you and your friend. Everyone harbors different types of bacteria and our own bodies may be able to cope with a certain bacteria that we may have. But when you share products, you introduce each other to perhaps intolerable new strains of bacteria. Department stores have various testers put out for the public to try. People commonly dip their unwashed fingers in creams and introduce bacteria. Refrain from trying these and ask your store attendant to furnish you with perhaps a personal sample. Request single use applicators such as q-tips or cosmetic spatulas. Use products only for their intended use. Lip liners should never be used for the eyes. Bacteria from the mouth can infect the eye area. In this way you will avoid even slight irritation, redness and watering that is so prevalent with the use of these products.
What to do for sensitive eyes?
Sometimes it is wise to completely discontinue use of any cosmetics around the eye area and you may need to see an optometrist to determine if you may have an inflammation of the eyelid. When your sensitivity diminishes, find products with no fragrances and perhaps a chemical-free cosmetic. Switching to dry cosmetics and water soluble mascara has also helped many women to lessen irritation. Try to avoid lash building and thickening mascara. These formulations contain particles which are brittle and often flake away into the eye area. Polymer based mascaras tend to not be as brittle and do not flake off as readily into the eye.
Advantages of eye liner pencils
Eye shadow powders and eyeliner pencils cause less irritation because dry substances do not need so many preservatives and chemicals to formulate them. These pencils however should be kept sharp. Firstly because eyeliner that has been exposed to the air for a long time may harbor bacteria and it may become harder when exposed to air, necessitating more pressure to be applied during application. Secondly, so that the outer casing, which can be very sharp, has no chance of coming close to scratching the eye area.
If the eyes are considered to be the most important part of the body, and mascara the most important cosmetics product - then wisely accentuate the positive and really get noticed.

TCS Star Award 2010- Part II
How do you find the image and attire of our prefect couple in MediaCrop8- Fann Wong and Christopher Lee?
They are very compatible in terms of looks and height. The sweetness from this couple is shown throughout the show and this can never been uncovered by others.
Fann looks perfectly attractive. Hairstyle and makeup match her attire too. This 'egypt' style gives the mysterious feel and somehow i find it sexy on her. To suit the theme even more, perhaps, she can select to plait her hair up to a pony tail and have some golden dust or glitters applied as eyeshadow or on her body to match.
Unfortunately, Christopher's look is a more disappointing. He look dark and has a messy hairstyle with an 'untidy' bushy and heavy beard looking face. This has made him look pretty dirty. I can't stand his bottom as well.
He may look unique to have a formal top (with jacket) and a casual bottom (like a sarong). But this is definitely a big turn off since he is 'walking' into the venue aisle with Fann.
I hope he can improve his choice on his costume and hairstyle next year.

TCS Star Award 2010- Part I
I've managed to catch the once a year big time TV event yesterday from Mediacrop-TCS8. Yes, that's the Star Award 2010.
I found the attire, hairdo and makeup on some of our local celebrities real interesting and worth commenting. Be it good or bad comments. Some of them gives me the "wow" look and I'm extremely overwhelmed by them.
I like the smarty and pants outfit from Rui En with her long curvy hair. She seems a little mature with her "chili" red lips. However, this is a good try on her since she hardly wear such bright colors. Well done for her image consultant.

Jeannette Aw looks gorgeous too. Nice purple gown and elegant hairdo. Very sweet on her. Cool!
Big mistakes on the hair do for Felicia Tan and Joanne Peh . Their gown suits them every much but the hairstyling is really suck. It looks so messy on both of them and accompanied with the dull makeup they had, it had completely flop and spoilt their usual image.
Joanne wore a very sexy black gown showing part of her bust if only she can have her hair set with nice curls or have it somehow straighten or bundled up neatly it will be prefect. Same for Felicia.
As for Michelle Chia, she wore a nice blueish green attire and carry the 'smart' rugged image well. Nice choice on getting this design piece since the low cut, twisted skirt and leather belt makes her different and stands out from the rest. Apart from that, this color seems refreshing for this summer season. Don't you find it 'cooling' like the sea despite of our hot weather?
Sometimes, i think Michelle should consider changing her hairstyle. She has been keeping this curly hairstyle for many years, it may be time that she should consider changing it. How about a shoulder length bob style for her?
That's all for the moment. Let's gossip again tomorrow.

Best Lip Protection- Legere B12

Have you tried using Legere BB cream or their range of products?

It is highly recommended to try out their latest range of Vitamin B12 series for: Face & Neck, Hands and Lips. They had made their researches over the years on the benefits of vitamin B12.

It was found that this vitamin is very useful, particularly: to be an anti- oxidant agent, for whitening (which prevents the appearance of skin darkening or uneven skin tone), moisturising and skin smoothing. This is the only vitamin that has "pink" pigments when dissolved in water; which can be easily absorbed by the body/ skin and makes the skin softer, smoother and regulate the skin tone.
Not to talk about the contents and the texture of the above range, I feel its pink color packaging is very appropriate too. This color is so sweet and smoothing which appeals to the eyes. This soft looks somehow already convinced that it works even before I apply or try it on.
The color of this cream is pink and texture is very smooth and soft. It is light and very suitable for our weather. It is definately not oily or sticky after applying No unpleasant nice too. Nice try!

Best Waterproof and Non Smudge Eye Curling Mascara

I like especially the tiny radial comb type tip of this waterproof mascara. It's called: Super Dolly (the powerful curling mascara) from SaSa. With this innovative comb, it gives excellent volume and curl to your eyelashes.
Though it is not really a "branded" brand but this non smudge black color mascara is selling like hot cakes now in SaSa. There are a couple of times that this product runs out of stock at their store. Retail at S$21.90. Very economical and the waterproof base does not even smudge despite I've got oily eyelids. It is pretty long lasting. The eye mascara is made in Italy and packed in Malaysia. It has small size and light too; very easy to carry around in your makeup pouch.
It is one of the best mascara that I've used before because the comb tip makes it easy to control during applications and can improve the lift of each individual eyelash. It works very well on every single lash, including the corners of the eyelash or the bottom lashes. Most importantly, the texture of this mascara is very light, moisturising and easy to apply without causing any clumps or untidy eyelash looks.
Directions of apply:
Make sure your eye area is clean, dry and free of oil. Apply your eye makeup, including eye shadow and eyeliner. Next, always try to use an eyelash curler prior applying this mascara.
After this step, use the comb from the mascara tip to apply starting from the root of your lash line and then comb it out. If you want extreme curly effect, apply in a zig zag manner.
Add extra coats to volumized the lash look.

Tomato Red Lipstick, Spring 2010

One of the most powerful color for lips this spring season is RED. Red lips can be applied in a traditional way or in a modern style. Both looks calls for clean or minimum makeup on eyes and cheek.
Traditional way is to applied in matte texture style usually accompanied with darker lip liner, with a lip brush and a pair of steady hands. While the modern style is done with a choice of satin or glossy texture lipsticks, creating the sexy and wet pout lips.
Red lipstick has a combination of various color tones ranging from blue, tomato red (orange), plum or pink.
Below are a few of my favourite red lipsticks.

Below are a few of my favourite red lipsticks.
1- MAC, Viva Glam I. This is matte texture and tomato color based. Very intense red and excellent for formal business or for dinner with an elegant black color spaghetti gown.

The color is rich and very long lasting but it tends to be a little dry. So good to wear some lip balm before wearing this lip stick.
2- Estee Lauder, Rich Red
Nice golden packaging. Expensive and classy look. The texture is slightly glossy and accompanied with nice scent.

3- Chanel, Lover
Blue based with nice and smooth texture. Good fragrance.

4- Revlon, In the Red.
Economical and equally good in terms of color tone and texture. Maybe a little loose out in terms of scent and packaging.
